Diagnostics go to a sink the host passes (`diagnostics` on the map), the
same contract as the Active chart and grid packages. The package imports no
logging library, keeps no module-level logger, reports only data it cannot
draw truthfully, and names structure (counts, reasons, indices), never host
data such as identifiers or labels.
